Therefore, the store raises an invoice for 900 chairs, and the stock is sent to the customer along with a delivery note. The remaining 100 chairs will be delivered after a week. The business needs a strong tool to track outstanding sales orders.

    How Tally handles it?

    In the sales order, the delivery is split for two dates. One with the immediate delivery of 900 chairs, and the remaining 100 chairs are marked as due after one week. The stock is dispatched with a delivery note for 900 chairs. The order number is tracked in the delivery note. The sales order outstanding report shows the balance quantity that needs to be delivered. If the order hasn't been completed within a week, the balance quantity will reflect as orders overdue. When the delivery note or sales for the balance 100 chairs is recorded, the reports get updated instantly. However, due to some reason, if the customer cancels the order, pre–closing is just a button away. The store can record the partial quantity that wasn't delivered with the reason for pre-closure.

  • Scenario

    An automobile spare parts trader deals with individuals, auto-mechanics, transport companies, and other stores who buy from him. They deal with a huge number of SKUs or items, maintenance of which is a nightmare. The price of each stock item varies with each transaction, based on the quantity sold, even when sold to the same customer. Tracking sales and maintaining prices are imperative for a business of this type.

    The spare parts trader creates Price Levels in Tally.ERP 9 for each type of customer. He then creates custom price list for these customer types. He selects the items and defines the quantity range for which a price can be applicable. He also defines the additional discount percentage, and date of applicability for the prices.

    During invoicing, the trader selects the required price level, and the stock item. Automatically, the price of the stock item is displayed. Depending on the invoice date and quantity sold, the price varies. This allows having floating rates for stock items.

    However, the trader has the flexibility to overwrite the prices defined for an item.

  • Scenario

    A trader and his customer are are having a dispute over a small payment. Meanwhile,the customer has placed a new order and released the payment for the order. The trader wants to book part amount to the outstanding as per his books and record the remaining payment for the new order. But the customer is denying that any payments are due from him. While they sort the dispute out business continuity has to happen by parking the amount received as on account till clarity between the customer and supplier is reached.

    How Tally handles it?

    While they decide over the outstanding bill, the amount received has to be accounted for, and there is no particular bill towards which this amount can be adjusted. Selecting the Type of Reference as On Account will account for this amount without tagging it to a specific bill. However, after sorting the differences, the trader can alter the type of reference to tag it against the appropriate bill.

  • Scenario

    Buyers do have multiple branches and they request suppliers to deliver products to their different branches. Businesses must maintain multiple addresses of their customers to cater to this requirement.

    To meet the requirement of using multiple addresses for the same party, Tally.ERP 9 gives the flexibility to create multiple address types for a party in the ledger master. For example, Head office and Branch office can be created as address types.The contact person's name can be different for each person, and other details like fax number, and e-mail ID specific to a particular address can be maintained.
